Role & Responsibilities
PAFs bring a student perspective to the first-year advising network. They work in conjunction with proctors, academic advisors, and the Resident Dean of First-Year Students to connect students with campus resources and empower them to make the most of their college experience. They draw on their own experience as undergraduates to offer useful guidance on how to:
- Navigate academic life at Harvard College
- Balance curricular and extracurricular choices
- Address the challenges of transitioning to college
- Take advantage of the many available opportunities
When it comes to advising, they will help you become familiar with the tools and resources that you need to engage fully in the Harvard College academic experience. They will share information about how to find and evaluate courses and they will introduce key campus resources and connect you with other advisers.
Your PAF will email you in August ahead of your arrival to campus, and throughout the year you can expect in-person meetings mixed with group conversations and electronic communication.
PAFs work in entryway teams, so you will likely get to know the other PAF(s) associated with your entryway. PAFs work closely with your proctor to build community among you and other members of your entryway.
